We have been devoting ourselves to researches on biomedical engineering and technology as new application fields of thermal and optical engineering.

Particular subjects are the theoretical and experimental research of thermal injury at about ambient temperature from the point of view of heat and mass transfer in biological tissues, the study of performance of heat and mass transfer in wonder nets which are the animal organs working as super-micro heat exchangers, the research and development of flow rate sensors for super-small flow rate which can be used for artificial organs implanted in humans, for example.

In addition, fundamental research has been conducted on the light propagation in biological tissues, light in visible and near infrared wavelength ranges. As its medical applications, study of the monitoring of physiological information of human body, study of skin color appearances, and so on are being pursued.

@@@We show our achievements in 2005 in the following PDFs. Most of the researches still have been going on. We are eager to report our recent accomplishments as soon as possible.
